Keeping a preschooler entertained can be a challenge. My daughter loves being outside. But now that the outside temperature is in the 40’s, we are spending more time inside. I don’t want her spending a lot of time in front of the TV, especially while watching noneducational cartoons. Thanks to Leapfrog, my daughter has been kept entertained with fun, educational toys.
Leapfrog Epic
One of her favorite toys is the Epic. The Leapfrog Epic is a great child safe tablet that is specially designed for children. It has a 7” screen, 16GB memory, Wi-Fi, 2MP cameras, stylus and 20+ apps. The customizable home screen is playable, and features real-time weather, clock and daily surprises. The Epic offers a web-safe and age-appropriate web browser. It comes preloaded with web pages within safe walls and parents can also add new websites. There are even advanced parent controls that can unlock a full web browser. Parents can feel safe while their child (or up to three children can have profiles) are playing on the Epic.
My daughter is three years old and she loves playing on the Epic. She has easily turn it on herself, select her profile and start playing whichever app she wants. It is great for car rides and I am at ease knowing she can’t access anything she shouldn’t be. She enjoys playing the preloaded apps, but I am also planning on buying her more Leapfrog apps for Christmas. Leapfrog just gave the Epic a software update which I love! Parents can now access the Amazon app store and download apps for their kids. Two of my favorite apps are Disney Anywhere and ABC Mouse. With those two apps and all the fun Leapfrog apps, you won’t be able to get your child off of the Epic.
Scout’s Build & Discover Tool Set
My daughter has also been playing builder with Scout’s Build & Discover Tool Set. The set comes with the toolbox and five tools: ruler, hammer, saw, wrench and screwdriver. The toolbox is actually a doghouse, which can be taken apart and put back together.
My daughter always tries to help my husband around the house and now she has her own tool set. She has been enjoying using the tools and building the doghouse. Scout also interacts while they are playing by talking, signing, asking to count the nails with him and to measure the walls. The tools are even color coded to match the parts, like the red wrench works on the red bolts. Scout’s Build & Discover Tool Set teaches colors, counting and more while they are playing along.
Number Lovin’ Oven
The Number Lovin’ Oven is perfect for little chefs. It comes with a baking tray, frying pan, plates, pizza, bread loaf, cupcakes, fried egg and spatula. The oven also interacts with over 30 phrases and songs.
My daughter loves to help me in the kitchen so the Number Lovin’ Oven is perfect for her. While she is pretending to cook, she is also learning. It teaches number recognition with the number slider, cooking times, temperature, and tells them to cut the food into a certain number of pieces. Whenever the oven door is opened or closed it activates responses. If she places the frying pan on the stove top to fry an egg, it makes sizzle sounds. The timer also counts down until it dings and the light blinks off when the food is ready to eat. The Number Lovin’ Oven is a fun way she can play along while I am cooking at the oven.
