My family had the opportunity to visit Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, PA last weekend and we had a great time. We arrived on Sunday around 11am and we were able to get a parking spot not far from the entrance. The line to get in was really short so we only had to wait a couple minutes. As soon as we were admitted, we headed straight to Wildwater Kingdom.
After we rented a small locker to put our things in, we went to the wave pool. They had life vests available for guests, but I brought along my child’s from home. The waves came in intervals: 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off. My daughter loved the waves and kept jumping into them. They also had fountains in the shallow end of the wave pool.
After the wave pool, we went over to Wildwater River. We walked right up to the entrance and grabbed our tubes without waiting. My daughter is too little to get in a tube by herself so she sat in my lap. The river had all kinds of waterfalls and we ended up getting soaked. We had a blast on it and it was my favorite attraction.
We went to the kid water attractions next. One of the kid’s areas had a bunch of fountains to play in and huge umbrellas with chairs underneath for getting out of the sun. Kid’s Cove featured a submarine with a slides and water features. Waterworks was a really neat attraction. It had all kind of water features and buckets that dumped water onto everyone.
My daughter’s favorite water attraction was Lollipop Lagoon. They had a bunch of slides, fountains and things to climb on. She didn’t want to leave this area, but we were getting hungry.
We went over to the Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival to grab something to eat. The festival runs from July 1 to 17 from 3-8pm each day. It features live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, beer samples and BBQ food.
To eat or drink, you have to buy tickets and use them at the stands. There were three food stands: pork, chicken and beef. We ended up ordering pulled pork sliders, chicken nachos, baked beans and corn. The food was okay and it filled us up.
After leaving the festival, we decided to find some kid rides to enjoy. We took a nice ride around on the Zephyr train. Then we went over to Planet Snoopy and rode a bunch of the kid rides. We even rode the carousel near the entrance of the park. After riding the rides, my daughter was getting tired and we were ready to leave. We had a fun day at Dorney Park and we are looking forward to visiting again.
