Slumber party ideas can range from games for five-year-old’s to picking great girly movies for tween girls or action flicks for the boys. There are tons of different slumber party ideas out there for when the kids have friends over. Have you ever thought of making a slumber party a family experience? It’s so much fun. It gives you tons of quality time with the kids, and it’s exciting. I’ve put together some slumber party ideas for having a fun night with the younger kiddos that will help you plan your own party.
Slumber Party Ideas the Kids Will Love
These ideas are geared towards kids aged 3 to around 5 or 6. At this age, overnight events like this are extra exciting for the kids and extra easy for parents because, at that age, they just can’t stay up as late as older kids. They physically cannot. They just konk out. These tips will help you create a space that gets the kids excited and makes for tons of family memories.
Forts
No slumber party is complete without forts. You can opt for indoor play tents or tepees, but to make it a real, true slumber party, make your own. You remember how it’s done. All you need is furniture and blankets, and the kids have an instant castle.
Snacks
Snacks make or break a slumber party. Make a snack station packed with your family’s favorite snacks in the kitchen. Just remember not to go too heavy on the sugar unless you want your slumber party to descend into madness.
Entertainment
Slumber parties aren’t slumber parties without fun activities. Round up your kids’ favorite board games, movies, and the like so you’ll be able to get down to some serious fun while inside the fort you built.
A Great Bedtime Story
When the kids are finally so exhausted that even they don’t want to stay up anymore, close out the night with a fun bedtime story. It’s a great way to end a night full of fun, snacks, and family bonding.
Sleepy, the Goodnight Buddy is a perfect book for ending your night of fun with the kids. Written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Scott Campbell, this book tells the story of Roderick, a boy who hates going to sleep. In fact, he hates it so much, he’s come up will all sorts of ways to stay up past bedtime. After a while, his parents decide to get him a stuffed animal to help him wind down. However, Sleepy, intended to be a cuddly friend, turns out to be as anti-bedtime as Roderick. In the end, though, Sleepy and Roderick both realize that sometimes it’s nice to go to sleep.
