Mini Fruit Pizzas are a delicious and colorful dessert. They can be decorated anyway you please and they are also great for children to decorate.
I can’t wait to watch Disney’s new movie, Inside Out. I love that it talks about emotions. I started talking to my daughter about emotions when she was very little. I even own several children books about emotions and feelings. We also like to make faces with different emotions when making Mini Fruit Pizzas. I use any available situation or opportunity to talk about emotions. I want her to be able to express herself and communicate in an emotionally healthy way.
As soon as I heard the Inside Out merchandise was in stores, I headed to Walmart to pick up some of them. I had to get one of their exclusive Inside Out plush products. I also purchased a couple of the Tomy Toy Inside Out figures.
While I was shopping, I stopped by the fruit snack aisle to pick up the Kellogg’s Inside Out fruit snacks.
As soon as I got home, my daughter ripped open the fruit snack box and started eating them. Each of the fruit snacks are in the shape of the Inside out characters’ faces, which is another great opportunity to ask about what emotion the character is expressing.
She also loved the Inside Out Disgust plush I bought. I asked her what emotion she thought the plush had and she said mad. She even tried pretend feeding Disgust the fruit snacks, maybe she thought she was hangry.
After playing with her Inside Out characters for awhile, it was time to start making our Mini Fruit Pizzas. First, I had to preheat the oven. While we were waiting, my daughter put the sugar cookies on the baking sheets. Then I put them in the oven to bake. After they were done, I sat them out to cool.
In a bowl, I mixed together the cream cheese, frozen topping, sugar and vanilla extract. I spread the mixture on top of the cooled sugar cookie. Then it was time to decorate them.
I had a variety of fruit available in my house to choose from. I washed and sliced all the fruit. My daughter chose which fruit pieces she wanted and started decorating her cookies.
I also got into the fun and decorated my own cookies with faces. I made a sad face Mini Fruit Pizza to go along with our Sadness figure.
I also made an angry face to go along with our Inside Out’s Anger figure. I ended up making a Mini Fruit Pizza for each of Inside Out’s characters: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust. We had a great time decorating the cookies and talking about the different emotions.
