Cheddar Cheese Fondue Recipe

Cheddar Cheese Fondue is an easy savory dip to enjoy during dinner or while entertaining guests.

Wintertime is my favorite time of the year. I love spending more time with family and friends. Everyone has been making and sending over lots of desserts for the holidays. Believe me, I have ate a lot of them the last few weeks. I am a little tired of desserts at the moment… if that is even possible. I wanted to do some holiday entertaining but I wanted something more savory. I decided to have a fondue night and make a Cheddar Cheese Fondue using Kraft Natural Shredded Cheese.

I headed to Walmart to pick up the ingredients for our fondue night. I purchased Kraft Natural Finely Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese to use in my cheese fondue. I also bought dippers in the produce section and bakery: French bread, Granny Smith apples, cauliflower and broccoli.

Making a cheese fondue is fairly easy to do. Many fondues use alcohol, but I don’t drink and I didn’t want to go to the state store or beer distributor. So I use broth in my cheese fondue instead of wine or beer. To make the Cheddar Cheese Fondue, I bring the broth to a boil in a saucepan. Then I mix in the garlic and mustard powder. I reduce the heat to low and gradually mix in the cheddar cheese tossed with cornstarch. Once melted, I mix in Worcestershire sauce and season it with pepper. Then I transfer the mixture to my fondue pot.

Fondue is always an enjoyable evening when entertaining. Everyone sits around a table and dips with their own color coded fork into the fondue. It’s the perfect atmosphere for conversation plus it’s fun dipping your food. Cheddar Cheese Fondue is an easy savory way to entertain over the holidays.
